Letter Welcome & Suggestions

We are delighted you are coming to stay at Beach View and hope you have a fantastic time.

I would mention in passing that a good restaurant near the house is   External link opens in new tab or windowwww.bistroonthebeach.co.uk  (External link opens in new tab or windowhttp://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186262-d731098-Reviews-Bistro_on_the_Beach-Bournemouth_Dorset_England.html ).  It is a short walk from the house – it recently won the Sunday Times best beach restaurant. A lot of guests have noted that they enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the nearest pub by foot the Spyglass & Kettle (not my favourite but convenient and OK) External link opens in new tab or windowhttp://www.pub-explorer.com/dorset/pub/spyglassandkettlesouthbourne.html.

You should visit Southbourne high street it has traditional butchers, original shops for coffee and some quaint shops. An example of a wool café in Southbourne is: External link opens in new tab or windowhttps://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186262-d9734421-Reviews-Close_Knit-Bournemouth_Dorset_England.html. We have also started going to Christchurch more with its historic Priory and fabulous dining options: at end of Church Street (park in Priory car park) there are a lot of eating places together: Splinters (External link opens in new tab or windowhttps://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186262-d9734421-Reviews-Close_Knit-Bournemouth_Dorset_England.html) ; James &White (gastro pub) External link opens in new tab or windowhttps://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g190800-d5207414-Reviews-James_and_White-Christchurch_Dorset_England.html etc  and many more including a Pizza place all next to each other. A more expensive place with fabulous views across Mudeford Harbour (just past Christchurch) -https://www.thejetty.co.uk/

As of 2017 a brand new Cinema complex with flagship chain restaurants opened in the heart of Bournemouth so you can see the gardens and high street at the same time: External link opens in new tab or windowhttp://www.bh2leisure.co.uk

Beach view was listed as the fourth entry in the Saturday Times  on 16 April 2016 “ 12 Great Houses By The Sea”.

Just to let you know the house has recently had new carpets  installed so we hope you enjoy.

I set out below various pieces of information which will be needed to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

I am pleased to report that the 7 mile golden stretch of Beach (which starts in Bournemouth and finishes at Hengistbury Head) has been voted as the 4th best destination in Europe and the best in England by Tripadvisor - just remember you are on the very best bit of that beach with views towards Bournemouth/ Harry Rocks to your right and Hengistbury Head and Isle of White to your left. You are nearer to the nature reserve and do recommend you walk to the top of the Head.

The Guardian newspaper placed the house as the first entrant on their " UK" beach holiday list in the UK for the "100 best beach holidays worldwide".  In addition the Star reporter stayed at the house  - see his article published in Feb 2014.

TV the Second Most Important thing in Life!

Just to let you know  we have upgraded all TVs with Sky Q plus free  Netflix and super-fast fibre wi fi. There is a sky movie package and HD on all TVs except the kitchen and the ground floor bedroom. The ground floor bedroom has its own Sky box but just the free channels. The Pin for Sky to see age restricted content - anything above 12 or 15 certified will be provided but must not be used for buying movies from Sky store or any other purchases.

Netflix movies HD has been subscribed for and at present this is built into the TVs in the main bedroom, the lounge and pirate room. The conservatory, downstairs and upper deck bedrooms have a separate remote fire stick . Accordingly only the kitchen does not have Netflix.

Note Sky will be on hdmi 1 in all rooms. Netflix on hdmi 2 where it is not built into the TV, except in the upper deck bedroom (yellow curtains) where it is on hdmi 7. Note also Sky Q enables the main TV in the lounge to be used at any time regardless of who else is watching, but in all other rooms only two additional views can be watched at the same time.

DURATION OF STAY

Arrival must be after 4 pm and you must check out by 10 am prompt as there are guests before and after you. If it were not for other guests before and after you we would be happy to let you arrive early and stay late. If the position changes we will let you know or if you do wish to arrive early/leave late let me know by email and we can double check the position.

BEDS AND SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Just so I have it on email  (and can forward to the housekeeper) please let me know how you would like the beds and the number and age of your children. Please also confirm if cots or high chairs are needed. The best room in terms of view is Voyager (see the  External link opens in new tab or windowwww.beachviewdorset.co.uk  website where there is a picture of each room) - it is a good square size and has a permanent super kingsize bed in it and a luxury en suite shower room with megaflow power shower (see pictures on web site) and a brilliant view of the beach.   Then is the room with the Upper Deck, which has a  decking and an en suite  shower room which can be made up as a super kingsize  or as two separate beds. Then is the Pirate room which can be a superkingsize or two separate beds - it has a small den with soft toys in and to hang clothes. Downstairs is the Techno room at the front of the house which has a kingsize bed which can be split into singles (there is a downstairs bathroom)

LEISURE CLUB AND INDOOR OUTDOOR POOL

The attached letter is needed for you to gain access to the facilities and you need to print it out and bring it with you. If you park in the hotel car park – please remember to register your number plate at reception otherwise they can ticket your car.

GROCERIES DELIVERED

There are many large and express supermarkets nearby (see sat nav letter) but you may want to have your shopping delivered the morning after your arrival or on a 5 to 6 pm slot on the day of arrival.  See External link opens in new tab or windowwww.tesco.co.uk ; External link opens in new tab or windowwww.sainsbury.co.uk ; External link opens in new tab or windowwww.waitrose.co.uk or External link opens in new tab or windowwww.asda.co.uk all of which deliver to the house.

BROADBAND

Code for the fibre wi fi.

BEACH HUT

I have made arrangements for occupiers of Beach View to have access for all peak season guests free of charge, subject to availability,  a beach hut right on the beach for the duration of your stay .   There is a toilet area to the right of the hut when in the hut facing the sea. There is a water drinking tap just in front of the beach hut. I attach a copy of a photographic map showing the 6 min walk to the beach hut  (for an 11 year old - if you have elderly guests or young children it will take longer and you may wish to park above the cliff path). We have had the hut equipped with things to make your holiday more comfortable including  windbreakers, umbrellas, buckets, body board, spades, deck chairs, coffee making facilities and  somewhere sheltered  to sit rain or sun. There is now a shopping trolley which you can use to take your things down to the hut.

Please note that if the Beach Hut is included in your stay without a specific additional charge you will need to rely on the guests before to have left it in a reasonable condition and to have removed all beach towels to the house. It is often not possible for the housekeeper to clean the house and check the beach hut on the same changeover day. If the beach hut is not in a satisfactory condition please let me know immediately and it will be serviced.

Beach hut is number 1271. The key will be left on the guest book and has a beach hut attached to it.

DOLLS HOUSE

For the enjoyment of adults and children a beautiful dolls house has been purchased and is now  situated in the dinning room at LOW LEVEL.  All are welcome to play with the dolls inside the dolls house. PLEASE NOTE FOR SAFETY REASONS (because the toys represent a chocking hazard)  YOU MUST not let young children/babies play with them and should  PLACE THE CONTENTS OF THE HOUSE OUT OF REACH. There are also other soft dolls/toys in the Pirate Room you should place out of reach for the same reasons.

We've all enjoyed wonderful weather and have been appreciated comfy beds and crisp sheets. This holiday has been enhanced by beautiful views of a full moon over the sea. Boat trips to Swanage and Brownsea Island were most enjoyable; all in all a GREAT HOLIDAY - Super house!

ML, Coventry

We have had the family holiday of our lives! What a wonderful house in a perfect location. There is so much to do around here we wish we could have stayed longer! Our daughter enjoyed the Adventure Wonderland the most! Swanage, Corfe Castle, Sandbanks, Christchrch, Poole Harbour, Bournemouth Pier..... fantastic. The house itself was so well equipped and we wanted for nothing, sitting in the garden alone was a highlight. Thanks again and we will definitely come back. CD, Essex,

A lovely, comfortable, well equipped house. The weather was bright but freezing, but we had a good time notwithstanding Mudeford (lunch at the Beach Cafe was lovely); the Russell Coates Museum and the Oceanarium. We liked Christchurch - lovely in winter and the Priory Church was fantastic. Lunch at Spinters Restaurant was good. KR, London
